OOt is committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and safe environment for all its members. This Code of Conduct provides guidelines for all members, outlining expected behavior, and what actions will be considered unacceptable. This policy applies to all interactions related to OOt, including, but not limited to, online communication, in-person meetings, and events.
Respect and Inclusivity: This is foundational to the Code of Conduct. Members must foster an environment of kindness, respect, and dignity. Any behavior that could be construed as harassing, offensive, or harmful should be strictly avoided. The organization aims to be an inclusive platform, accepting members regardless of their individual characteristics like age, gender identity, race, or sexual orientation, among others. This also involves a commitment to collaboration, learning from each other, and providing support in a constructive manner, thus making the community stronger and more cohesive.
Professionalism: Members are expected to display the highest standards of professionalism, defined by competence, integrity, and respect in all actions. They must respect the privacy of others and handle sensitive information with utmost care, upholding the trust placed in them by the organization and other members. This also includes avoiding conflicts of interest, where members should disclose any situations that could be viewed as such and abstain from any actions that could compromise the trust or impartiality of the community.
Communication: Members are expected to express their opinions and ideas openly, while still being respectful to others. Communication should foster growth, learning, and understanding. An open-minded approach is encouraged, where differing viewpoints are heard and considered, constructive criticism is accepted graciously, and feedback is given thoughtfully. Offensive language, images or any exclusionary remarks, including those that are sexist, racist, etc., are strictly forbidden.
Unacceptable Behaviors: Specific behaviors that breach the Code of Conduct are expressly prohibited. This includes any form of harassment, bullying, or intimidation, such as unwelcome comments, inappropriate physical contact, or unsolicited sexual attention. Discrimination based on any personal characteristic is also forbidden. Disruptive behaviors, like consistently interrupting discussions or events, or sustained disruption of conversations, are unacceptable. Additionally, doxxing, which is the act of revealing someone else’s personal information without their explicit permission, is strictly forbidden.
Reporting: If any member witnesses or experiences behavior that breaches the Code of Conduct, they are urged to report it promptly to a designated individual or team. The organization commits to treating all reports with confidentiality and responding promptly, ensuring fair treatment for all parties involved.
Enforcement: The enforcement section allows the organization’s team to investigate any reported incidents. The team reserves the right to take necessary actions, including issuing warnings to the offender, mediation, and even expulsion and banning from the community, to maintain a welcoming environment for all members.
Living Document: The Code of Conduct is considered a living document, indicating its adaptability to changing circumstances. As the community evolves, so can the Code of Conduct, and members are encouraged to provide their input to its development.
Agreement: By participating in the OOt community, members implicitly agree to abide by the terms of the Code of Conduct. This agreement is a commitment by each member to work together to maintain an environment that is respectful, inclusive, and professional for everyone.
